Waiting on Wednesday (78)

Hey,

This week I'm waiting for...

Panic
Release Date: March 4, 2014

Panic began as so many things do in Carp, a dead-end town of 12,000 people in the middle of nowhere: because it was summer, and there was nothing else to do.

Heather never thought she would compete in Panic, a legendary game played by graduating seniors, where the stakes are high and the payoff is even higher. She’d never thought of herself as fearless, the kind of person who would fight to stand out. But when she finds something, and someone, to fight for, she will discover that she is braver than she ever thought.

Dodge has never been afraid of Panic. His secret will fuel him, and get him all the way through the game, he’s sure of it. But what he doesn't know is that he’s not the only one with a secret. Everyone has something to play for.

For Heather and Dodge, the game will bring new alliances, unexpected revelations, and the possibility of first love for each of them—and the knowledge that sometimes the very things we fear are those we need the most.

This sounds a bit like The Hunger Games, but it's probably not because Lauren Oliver is good with keeping things original. You can check out my review of PANDEMONIUM and REQUIEM, #2 and #3 in the Delirium trilogy. (THEY ARE AMAZING GO READ THEM NOW!)

Leave a link to your WoW post in the comments below so I can check it out!

Have a good week,
Sam :D

  1. I can't wait to read this either! I thought it sounded like THG too, but my friend read it and said it's contemporary not dystopian so it's pretty different. Either way I'm excited for it. Great pick :)

  4. Ooo, Panic! I have this one. I didn't like Oliver's Delirium series, but I'm willing to give Panic a try. Although, I've heard that it is very Hunger-Games-esque. I'm not going to like it if it is. Booo, rip-offs... lol

    Check out my WoW post!

  6. I haven't read anything else by this author, but this book will definitely fix that. And the cover is awesome!
